St. Rita's Sports Medicine Team of the Week is a program recognizing high school athletic teams that work together to achieve common goals and improve their school and community. The program is sponsored by St. Rita’s Medical Center Sports Medicine and West Central Ohio Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.* Members of the team selected will receive a certificate and a t-shirt to recognize their success.

Q. When will the St. Rita’s Sports Medicine Team of the Week Program start?

Nominations will be accepted from August 2003 through May 2004. Starting in September, the “Team of the Week” will be announced by Vince Koza during Saturday morning Sports Talk which starts at 10:00 a.m. on WIMA, AM 1150. |
Q. What teams are eligible?
Any Ohio High School Athletic Association girls' or boys' team in West Central Ohio may be nominated. Teams include freshman through varsity. Some team examples are: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track & field, volleyball and wrestling.
Q. Which counties are considered a part of West Central Ohio?
Allen, Auglaize, Hancock, Hardin, Logan, Mercer, Paulding, Putnam, Shelby and Van Wert counties.
Q. What are the criteria used for a “Sports Team of the Week?”
Team accomplishments in athletics, academics, community service, inspirational actions, sportsmanship and teamwork are all considered and must have occurred in the current sports season.
Q. How is the Sports Team of the Week chosen?
Each week, a committee of Sports Medicine professionals will review all complete nomination forms submitted and select a St. Rita’s Sports Medicine Team of the Week. A nomination is considered complete when the online or paper version is received with all of the required information, including a brief summary of why the team was nominated.
Q. Who can nominate a team?
Anyone** can nominate a team including athletic directors, coaches, parents, community members, school employees and team members. Nomination forms are available from
high school athletic directors.
