St. Rita's Medical Center provides a dedicated pediatric unit offering care for
newborns and children, birth through eighteen years of age. This 16-bed unit
is staffed with registered nurses specially trained to meet the medical needs
of children. Within the pediatric division is a designated Special Care Unit
for critically ill children. In this environment, critically ill children can
receive the specialized care they would normally receive in the intensive care
step-down unit, but from the caring, gentle hands of nurses trained to work
with children.
Parents are welcome and encouraged to stay with their child the entire time
they remain hospitalized at St. Rita's. Meals for family members can be ordered
through Nutrition Services and delivered to the child's room. There are also
accommodations or hospitality suites available
for parents to stay overnight so there is never a need for the parent to leave
their child.
