St. Rita's Employee Legends

Patsy SmithPatsy Smith has held the hand of many a surgery patient over the years. Whether soothing a patient having an "awake" procedure or comforting someone on their way to sleep, Patsy's Compassion is evident. As a "resolute" patient advocate, her actions personify Human Dignity and Sacredness of Life.

Patsy's dedication to our Core Values of Excellence and Service is exemplified in her ongoing education for Operating Room students. Countless hours of are spent on personnel orientation and preparation. One student reported that Patsy made him feel at home, took the time to introduce him to the staff and had a plan of action that made his rotation experience extremely worthwhile. He also cited her "kindness, willingness to answer any question and her systematic orientation strategy" which was very valuable to him.

According to her peers, "her meticulous preservation of standards and organization that she passes on through education and preceptorship in the operating room touch everyone--students, physicians, ancillary staff, new staff, temporary staff, even 'old geezer' staff."

Her sense of fairness and equality stand out in her everyday contact with patients and staff, a testimony to our Core Value of Justice.

According to her nomination, "nobody doesn't like Patsy"!
