St. Rita's Employee Legends
Jan Kile worked with a dialysis patient for several months. Through her compassionate care, she built up a special rapport with him. One afternoon after completing his treatment, he asked Jan if she would gather all the patients and staff so he could say a prayer. She was able to gather everyone together and the patient was able to offer his prayer.

After the prayer, the patient thanked Jan for her assistance. He confided that he had never prayed before because he was afraid people would laugh at him. Jan encouraged him in his spiritual growth and wished him well as he left the unit. When he reached his car, the patient had a major medical complication and died that afternoon.

Jan's actions reflected our Core Values of Compassion, Human Dignity and Sacredness of Life in helping this patient with both his physical and spiritual needs. Although this is just one example, Jan has consistently shown our Core Values in action in her 33 years at St. Rita's.
