Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a simple, safe and painless diagnostic procedure that bounces high-frequency sound waves off parts of the body. The returning "echoes" are saved as images. There is no injection or radiation exposure associated with ultrasound procedures.

Ultrasound can capture moving images of pelvic and abdominal function, breast abnormalities, the male reproductive system, the kidney and thyroid systems, gall bladder, the liver and pancreas. Ultrasound is frequently used to reveal fetal development in pregnant women. Ultrasound is also used in ultrasound guided biopsies.
