Addiction

Our chemical dependency treatment programs include physical, mental, social and behavioral aspects. A qualified team of physicians, psychologists, nursing personnel, certified counselors and nutritionists provides comprehensive recovery programs. This team provides a plan of care that is customized to the individuals' specific needs with addiction and behavior problems.

Recognized as a quality treatment and rehabilitation facility, Addiction Services is approved by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the State of Ohio.

Intensive Outpatient
This five-week program meets for three hours, three times weekly in the evening. This allows the person to receive treatment with minimal disruption to their work and family life. Group therapy and learning to understand the nature of addiction helps the individual identify his or her personal needs.

Individual and family counseling focuses on planning a lifestyle free from chemicals. Participants are also introduced to community self-help groups, which support personal recovery.

Partial Hospitalization
This is the most intense outpatient treatment offered at St. Rita's. Individuals attend classes Monday through Saturday for eight hours during the day and see the physician a minimum of twice a week. Partial hospitalization usually lasts for three weeks. There is an emphasis on the emotional and social needs of the client and family. Education is provided in group classes, therapy and through interaction with others. Each client has a primary therapist, a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor (CDCC), to provide individual counseling for themselves and his/her family. Both client and family are introduced to community self-help groups, which support them during treatment and after discharge.

Admissions to Addiction Services are voluntary and can be requested by a physician, family, employer, community agency, court or self-referral. Admissions are based on established criteria without regard to sex, race, creed, national origin or age. Patients must be interviewed and assessed to determine the appropriate level of treatment in Addiction Services. An appointment with an intake counselor is the first step.

Dual Diagnosis:
A person who has both an alcohol or drug problem and an emotional/psychiatric problem is said to have a dual diagnosis. Dual diagnosis is common. Studies reveal that 37 percent of alcohol abusers also have a least one serious mental illness, and of all people diagnosed as mentally ill, 29 percent abuse either alcohol or drugs.
