A partial hospitalization program provides structured outpatient programming for school-age youth focusing on behavioral intervention, social skill-building, medical management and academics. The program meets Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Full time participation is expected when the patient begins the program; however, patients work toward part time program participation in conjunction with school passes. Patient stays vary depending upon their needs, with the average stay being 15 days. Individuals must be interviewed and assessed to determine if treatment in Child & Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Services is appropriate. An appointment with a counselor at St. Rita's is the first step. A telephone interview will be conducted and an appointment will be scheduled for the counselor to meet with the youth and their family. Interruption of studies is always a major concern; however our program places a great deal of emphasis on helping the youth keep pace with their school classmates. With the parent's cooperation, students receive assigned work from the school. Program time is specifically designated for the completion of this work and staff members are available to assist the youth. Staff members consistently redirect the youth toward productive classroom and study behaviors. |
