St. Rita's Clinical Decision Diagnostic Unit (CDDU), often called observation,
has six monitored beds for patients who may or may not need to be admitted
to the Medical Center. The purpose of the CDDU is to provide patient treatments
such as hydration, pain control or other non-life threatening conditions. Overnight
monitoring is provided for patients with chest pain or who are scheduled for
next day stress tests or heart procedures. Located within St. Rita's Emergency
Department, the CDDU is for adult patients, is open 24-hours a day, and is
staffed by emergency personnel.
