Reach to Recovery is an American Cancer Society program that has been helping
breast cancer patients (female and male) cope with their breast cancer experience
for more than 30 years. Specially trained Reach to Recovery volunteers are
breast cancer survivors who give patients and family members an opportunity
to express feelings, verbalize fears and ask questions of someone who has
been there.
Through face-to-face visits or by phone, volunteers will visit with someone
faced with the possibility of a breast cancer diagnosis and continue contact
as long as the patient requests support. Initial visits frequently occur
in the hospital. |
